My Father Anselmo and Uncle Ferdinando Bottin, migrated to Australia with their family in 1954 from Treviso in northern Italy, where they were grape growers. Quality farming is a long and proud tradition in our family.<br /><br />We’ve long been suppliers to some of the bigger names in Australian wine and have typically grown traditional varieties to suit the needs of those wineries. However, a trip to Italy in 1998 inspired us to do more. A reminder of the distinct similarities in climate and coastal influences between the Italian vineyards and those at McLaren Vale reminded us of the goal we’ve always had – to produce Australian wines with traditional Italian varieties. My love for Barbera and Sangiovese was sealed during a vintage in Pavia I came straight home to plant both varieties in our family plot, my father was finally happy!<br /><br /> <br /><br />In the short time we’ve been producing our small batch of Italian varieties we’ve won a gold, two silvers and a bronze at the Australian Alternative Wine Show.
